PLAINVILLE - On a sunny and hot Sunday morning over 3,000 people walked and ran in the fourth annual GE 5K Road Race supporting the Petit Family Foundation. This year's event was filled with a record breaking amount of participants.

"You're here, you're a presence," said Dr. William A. Petit to the crowd. "Whether you're running for someone who was lost in your family, or for your friend, or for your foundation or for me. Just your presence here means a tremendous amount and shows the love you have for friends and family. I really appreciate that and the example you set for the community at large."

Thousands lined up ready for race coordinator Bob Heslin to shout "on your mark, get set, go." Once the words left his mouth a steady stream of adults, children and strollers flowed through the streets.
