Dear Petit Family Foundation,

I just wanted to pass along an update based on the generous grant we received from your organization in support of our anti human trafficking awareness work.

As we proposed, throughout the months of March and April 2012, Maryland college campuses will be hosting anti-human trafficking rallies with the theme “MY Generation Will Be Free.”  These are student-led activities that will take place over the course of a week, including a wide variety of expressions to bring awareness to the issue of modern day slavery.  I’m delighted to share with you that their creativity and energy is surpassing our expectations.  These student groups are assembling speaker panels, immersion experience tents, documentary screenings, a Fair Trade fashion show, student videos, Facebook events, art exhibits, spoken word events, inviting law makers and politicians, and engaging in advocacy efforts, all in an effort to Educate, Enrage and Engage the next generation.

The other most exciting news to pass along is that we had hoped to have maybe a half dozen schools participating.  To our delight, we now have FOURTEEN campuses across six counties that will be hosting rallies.  They are:

5 March              Towson University

5 March              Morgan State University

19 March            Stevenson University

19 March            Howard Community College

26 March            University of MD Law School

27 March            University of Baltimore

2 April                 University of Maryland Baltimore County

9 April                 Frederick Community College

9 April                 Anne Arundel Community College

9 April                 McDaniel College

16 April               Johns Hopkins University

23 April               University of Maryland, College Park

24 April               CCBC-Catonsville

A detailed schedule of the activities planned for the various locations can be found on the comprehensive calendar at www.marylandcoaltion.org,

The funds from Petit will go to off-set the costs of the rally Tshirts, printing, logistics, and video production.  And I’m happy to say that even some of the schools are making small grants to their students for this work.  But it’s because of your initial grant that we took this on, and so even before they begin, let me just express our gratitude.

And if there’s any opportunity for you to come to Maryland during this window, we would be honored to recognize you at these campus events.  THANK YOU  And God bless you.
