Food, spirits, cigar and sports fans to party for a
great cause during Carbone’s 9th Annual Cigar & Scotch Social June
14
Fine single malt scotch, whiskey and vodka. Rich, full-bodied cigars. A succulent
variety of appetizers, fish, pasta, grilled dishes and desserts. Two of
the region’s leading sports authorities. A respected
charitable foundation. Every June for the past eight years, these
‘ingredients’ have brought hundreds to savor and celebrate at
Carbone’s is located at 588 Franklin Ave., Hartford,
will again host its annual Cigar & Scotch Social on Thursday, June 14
beginning at 6 p.m. The event’s honorary chairs are UConn Football Head Coach
Paul Pasqualoni and Colin Cowherd, commentator for ESPN Radio’s “The Herd”.
Roosters Men’s Grooming Center of Glastonbury and
A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit the Petit
Family Foundation, which works to foster education of young people, especially
women in the sciences; improve the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses
and support efforts to protect and help those affected by
violence.
The
evening’s gourmet menu includes:

A montage table
with dishes such as stuffed Italian long peppers, artichoke hearts salamis,
grilled asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and aged cheeses;
·
A crostini bar
featuring roasted butternut squash with fresh ricotta and truffle oil and
baccala and calamari puttanesca over creamy polenta;
·
Hand passed
appetizers including hazel nut and gorgonzola stuffed prosciutto wrapped figs
with aged balsamic, lobster and spinach stuffed crimini mushrooms and deep fried
quail with chili sauce;
·
A crudo bar
featuring little neck clams on the half shell with hot cherry pepper and fresh
lemon sauce, scungilli salad, yellow fin tuna tartar and seared Atlantic sword
fish Carpaccio;
·
A pasta bar
including roasted vegetable bolognaise over fresh arugula rigatoni pasta and
tenderloin braciole on fresh herb buttered maltagliati;
·
A grill station
including whole roast suckling pig with kale and quinoa citrus salad, grilled
baby New Zealand lamb chops with rosemary lemon olive oil and grilled Italian
style sausage with Sicilian hot and sweet peppers, and
·
A fresh seasonal
fruit ricotta sundae dessert
The evening’s libations will include Balvenie and
Glenfiddich scotch,
Guests will be able to sample cigars from Connecticut
Valley Tobacconist, a local company featuring custom blended cigars with
world-renowned “Connecticut Shade” wrappers. During the evening, guests will
also have the opportunity to indulge in hand rolled
cigars.
