My Avenging Angel workshops begin in February, March

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

ÒLiving well is the best revengeÓ is the theme of the My Avenging Angel Workshops, being offered this winter/spring in Avon and Wethersfield, Connecticut, by Susan M. Omilian of West Hartford, the workshopÕs award-winning originator and facilitator.

Described by participants as Òlife-changing,Ó the workshop provides a critical Ònext stepÓ for women to break permanently out of the cycle of violence and ÒthriveÓ after abuse.

Sponsored by the Hartford Hospital Domestic Violence Prevention Program and supported by Connecticut Alliance for Victim of Violence and Their Families Inc. (CT-ALIVE) and the Petit Family Foundation, the workshops are free. Each will be held in two sessions on Saturday, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 in Wethersfield and Saturday, March 7 and 14 in Avon. Participants should plan to attend both sessions of each workshop.*

Omilian is an attorney and author who has worked as an advocate for women who have been abused for over thirty-five years. Her recently published book, The Thriver Workbook: Journey from Victim to Survivor to Thriver! sets forth the motivational guidance she has successfully used in her workshops since 2001.

ÒMy workshops help women who have survived domestic violence, sexual assault or other abuse to discover their hidden talents, bring positive energy into their lives and set new, short and long term goals for themselves and their children,Ó said Omilian. She conducts the workshops in memory of her 19-year old niece Maggie who was killed in 1999 by her ex-boyfriend at a college in Michigan.

The Saturday workshop sessions are held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in February at Hartford Hospital Wethersfield Health Center, 1260 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT and in March at the Hartford Hospital Avon Wellness Center, 100 Simsbury Road, Suite 205, Avon. The workshops are free, but advanced registration is required through the Hartford Hospital Health Referral Service at 860-545-1888 or toll-free at 1-800-545-7664.
