Museum receives grant for summer science camp for Hartford girls

WEST HARTFORD >> The Children’s Museum in West Hartford received a $5,000 grant from the Petit Family Foundation to support a pilot program in which Hartford girls from the Boys & Girls Club will participate in a summer science camp program.

In partnership with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, the Museum will welcome 18 girls from Hartford for a hands-on “Determined Detectives” themed summer camp program. Participants will learn about forensics, genetics, problem solving, investigating, and collaboration while participating in fun science-based activities and meeting special guests that work in associated fields. At the end of the program, participants will combine their newly learned skills to solve a crime in the Museum.

The program will be held the week of July 5. More information on the Museum’s science camp programs and other educational offerings can be found at www.TheChildrensMuseumCT.org.

The Children’s Museum and Preschool are located at 950 Trout Brook Drive in West Hartford and Roaring Brook Nature Center is located at 70 Gracey Road in Canton. More information is available at www.TheChildrensMuseumCT.org.
