DONATE TO DANCE-A-THON 2012

Over the past seven years, the Dance-a-thon has raised nearly $300,000 for charitable organizations chosen by the entire community. Students, faculty, and alumni send nominations and finalists support our annual school theme and reflect diversity in mission, location and size. A school-wide vote ultimately decides the winner. Past recipients of Suffield Academy’s support have been the Jimmy Fund, Interval House, Jambo Tanzania, Harc Inc., Camp Sunshine, Autism Speaks, and Charity: Water.

For 2012, Suffield Academy has two charitable goals—supporting the Petit Foundation and honoring Henry Thevenin '10, who passed away after a struggle with leukemia. Fittingly, The Petit Family Foundation's mission speaks to improving the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses, as well as to supporting educational efforts and helping those affected by violence.

Headmaster Cahn said, "In my conversations with Dr. Petit we have agreed that our two areas of emphasis are clear: to honor Henry Thevenin as a remarkable person and beloved Suffield figure, and to help support people impacted by leukemia and blood disease in general. Dr. Petit has been moved by our generous commitment and is a great partner for us in pursuing these goals."
