Honoring Hayley’s Cup Regatta

In honor of the Hayley’s Cup Regatta.

I wish we could throw roses to Hayley from the bridge
While she rows efficaciously, creating signature puddles with her blade or blades.
It’s out on the river where the wind whispers her name, and circles back through the leaves of her tree.
Here, there is often an August sun in the fall and winter snow in the spring.
And the turbulent water slides peacefully off the blades, making us shiver,
whether from the cold or from the depths of our loss.
Catching and rowing under the sun or the moon
Hayley’s spirit remains here, sparkling like the pearl of an oyster
divested of its shell, to reveal her true brilliance, and keeping us rowing until forever, in Hayley’s heavenly wake.

May we continue to celebrate Hayley and the connection she helps FHS and MPS to maintain. May we be united by and reminded of her quiet passion as a leader, a student and an oarswoman.
